トマトの全ゲノムを解読した成果がNature誌2012年5月31日号に掲載される。日本時間5月31日2時に報道解禁になった。論文の著者はトマトゲノムコンソーシアム。14カ国の94機関・企業に所属する300人以上の科学者がコンソーシアムのメンバーとして掲載された中で、かずさDNA研究所の植物ゲノム研究部ゲノム解析技術研究室の佐藤修正室長ら10人が最初に記載された。かずさDNA研の他の機関・企業名の掲載はアルファベット順のため、かずさDNA研の寄与がコンソーシアムの中で特段に大きかったことが論文の記載で明確にされた。
