徳島県工業技術センターは徳島大学大学院ヘルスバイオサイエンス研究部の酒井徹教授ら、埼玉医科大学内分泌糖尿病内科の保坂利男講師との共同研究により、県特産のスダチ果皮から柑橘類に含まれる機能性成分ポリメトキシフラボンを単離・量産する技術を確立し、このポリメトキシフラボンの1成分であるスダチチンが、食事誘導性肥満マウスで抗肥満作用を発揮することを見いだした。さらに糖代謝や脂質代謝改善作用も確認した。この成果は、京都市で開かれた日本農芸化学会2012年度大会で2012年3月24日に一般講演で発表された。
