▼AFP 免疫系を「訓練」、画期的な乳がんワクチンを開発 米研究
細胞表面にMUC1たんぱく質が付着している腫瘍を見つけ出して殺すよう、免疫系を訓練するというもので、こうした仕組みを持つワクチンは世界初だという。
MUC1は乳がん、すい臓がん、卵巣がん、多発性骨髄腫など、悪性で致死率も高いタイプのがんの70％以上で見られる糖たんぱく質。タモキシフェン、アロマターゼ阻害薬、ハーセプチンなどの抗ホルモン剤が効かないいわゆるトリプルネガティブ乳がん患者の90％で過剰発現することでも知られる。
マウスにこのワクチンを投与してみたところ、免疫系の3つの構成要素すべてが活性化され、腫瘍が平均で80％も縮小した。
