▼葛西臨海水族館が無料開放の日。というわけで行って来た。けっこうな混雑だったが、それなりに楽しめた。水族館のなかで時間をつぶしすぎて、外の臨海公園の砂州に行けなかったのが残念。

サルの脳に電極を埋め込み、このサルに「仮想アーム（腕）」でコンピューター内にある仮想の物体を動かさせたり、その質感を触覚させることに成功したとの研究結果が、5日の英科学誌ネイチャー（Nature）に掲載された。研究が進めば、いずれは重度のまひがある人たちも、物に触れる世界を再び取り戻すことができるかもしれない。
神経生物学を専門とする米デューク大学（Duke University）のミゲル・ニコレリス（Miguel Nicolelis）教授率いる研究チームは、2匹のアカゲザルを用い、脳の両半球に複数の電極を埋め込んで実験を行った。
実験でサルたちは、コンピューター画面上に表示された3つの物体に触ろうと、脳の力だけで「仮想アーム」を操作した。
物体の1つには「表面」に触れた感覚をもたらす「触覚フィードバック」が備わっている ...

▼靖国神社で行われた タイフェスティバル に。バジル炒めご飯やパッタイ、炭火焼き鳥などを食べて、マンゴーを買う。

▼そのまま神保町まで歩いて本屋を巡る。ふと思いついて国立情報学研究所が神保町でやってると聞いていた「 e読書ラボ 」をのぞいてみようと思ったが、モバイラーではない僕には場所がまったく分からず。近くの書店にチラシなどもなかった。
▼神保町からアウトドアショップなどをのぞきながら秋葉原まで歩く。秋葉原にはメイドさんがいっぱいいた。「痛車」が実際に走っているのも初めて見た。androidタブレットなどをちょちょっと触った。
▼７インチくらいの軽くて気軽なタブレットがもう一枚欲しい。ネットにちゃんと繋がってブラウザが動けば、取りあえず他の機能はいらない。
