Tweet ▼ 岩波「科学」 が来た。僕も「科学時評」という２ページのコラムを書かせてもらいました。タイトルは「東日本大震災　救助から復興、国の再構築へ」。お読み頂ければ幸いです。 ▼岩波「科学」も「日経サイエンス」も1400円。雑誌としては高すぎるというか、もう限界というか。部数がこれ以上減ったらどちらも保たない。いや、両者とも出版社が日経と岩波じゃなかったら既に消えてるだろう。一般向けの商業媒体としての科学雑誌が「子供の科学」と「ニュートン」だけになる日は、おそらく、それほど遠くない。というのが科学雑誌の現実だ。一般向け科学雑誌は経済的に成り立たなくなりつつある。 ▼と言ったところで、読者が増えるわけもない。雑誌記事はみな、楽しみを求めて読むものである。どんな種類の楽しみであるかは別として、ともかく楽しくなくては意味がない。 ▼思うに、これまでとは違うかたちの媒体が必要なのだろう。あるいは、これまでとは異なる形態、異なるアプローチでの集客が必要なのだ。経済的に成り立つ科学雑誌の新スタイルが。でもたぶん既存の出版社にはもう冒険するだけの体力も残されてない。こうしてゆっくりと滅んでいくのか ...
